MODI GOVT TAKING CITIZENS FOR A RIDE

The news report ‘Jaitley signals further GST rate cuts, hits out against politicising tax reform’ (HT, Nov 14) underlines the fact that the Modi government has taken the citizens for a ride. A certain BJP leader has declared that even he did not understand the Goods and Services Tax (GST). West Bengal’s finance minister too went on record to point out that such a high tax is not levied anywhere in the world. The Prime Minister declared GST as one tax replacing the others, then why do we have to pay additional charges on virtually everything? The citizens are clearly being robbed.
