SPENDING ON STATUES

Apropos ‘Why UP likes playing statue, statue’ (HT Insight, Nov 14), this game, like cricket, is very popular throughout the country. Even Prime Minister Na rend ra Mo di has announced a statue of Sardar Patel worth Rs 2,500 crore for his home state, Gujarat. If our country is lagging behind in health care, education and infrastructure, it’s only because of this wasteful expenditure. This game of statue, statue ends only when the player says ‘over’, we need to unanimously say ‘over’ to this game.
