Dengue cases on rise in HP, health dept issues advisory

SHIMLA: Amid rising dengue cases in Himachal Pradesh , the state health department has issued an advisory. Health minister Kaul Singh Thakur convened a meeting in this regard and issued necessary directions on Tuesday. He said the treatment for dengue is being given free of cost in the state.

In the advisory, the department has asked urban local bodies to lay more emphasis on sanitation, for which the health department has decided to provide spray machines to urban local bodies.

The health minister has directed the district administration Solan to depute SDM, tehsildar and other officers in dengue affected areas and assess the situation.

In Himachal Pradesh, around 401 people have tested dengue positive so far.

As many as 265 people have tested positive for dengue in Solan district. Most of these are migrant labourers living in Baddi, Parwanoo, Barotiwala and Nalagarh- industrial areas.

Indira Gandhi medical College (IGMC) senior medical superintendent Dr Ramesh Chand said dengue cases are rising. “Most of these tested positive have been contracted with dengue when they were outside the state,” he said. HTC
