India sees surge in number of dollar millionaires

There are 245,000 dollar millionaires in India in 2017, compared to 202,000 a year ago, Credit Suisse said in its global wealth report on Tuesday. Forty-two of them have wealth of at least $1 billion. Rising stock market prices and a stronger rupee are key reasons for the rise in wealth over the past 12 months. The investment bank estimates average wealth per Indian adult at $5,976.
