AAP with Khaira: ‘He takes bull by horns’

LUDHIANA: Aman Arora, co-president of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab unit, said on Friday that Sukhpal Singh Kha ira, under fire over a case drug case in Fazilka, “is a strong leader” and that “the party stands by him”.

After the high court declined to quash summons by a court to Khaira, who leader of opposition in the assembly, Arora said, “Khaira always takes the bull by the horns, and will fight this out .” Ar ora was in Ludhiana to discuss the structure of the party in view of the forthcomin­g municipal elections.

With him was Talwandi Sabo legislator Baljinder Kaur, who said ,“I don’ t want to say anything on the issue as earlier also I have been misquoted. Kaur was among MLAs who had said Khaira should resign over the issue.

Ar ora, meanwhile, lambasted the state’s Congress regime and trained his gun son chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh: “He has not been meeting people. He could not even meet (AAP chief and Delhi CM) Arvind Kejriwal (on the issue of smog) and is not addressing the issues faced by the public.”

He also criticised the police and said, “A force of 80,000 cops cannot control 400 gangsters operating in the state .” He further took a dig :“Even local bodies minister Navjot Sidhu doesn’t seem to be happy with the government, which shows by the way in which he is asking for the home department.”

ON PARTY STRUCTURE

During the meeting, Arora announced that the party structure up to circle, village and booth levels will be completed by December 31, and from January 1 a “vigorous” membership drive will be started.

The party expressly decided to fight the elections for the corporatio­ns and other municipal bodies.

It was also decided to ensure “substantia­l mobilisati­on” of people for the foundation day function of the party being held in Delhi on November 26.

Lok Sabha MP Sadhu Singh, and ML As Kan war Sandhu, Pirmal Singh, Meet Hayer and Rupinder Ruby were among those present.
