CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Ha ryana high court on Friday reserved its order on a petition seeking Central Bureau of Investigation( C BI) probe into lynching of Jun aid Khan in June on board a Ma thu ra-bound train, allegedly by right-wing sympathisers.

The high court bench of justice Rajan Gupta reserved the order after completion of arguments by the three main parties, the state of Haryana, the CBI and the petitioner Jalaludin, Junaid’s father.

His father had approached the high court on October 25, seeking aC BI probe arguing that the Ha ryana Police had deliberately distorted all witnesses’ statements to introduce“ambiguity, discrepancies and contradictions” to benefit the accused.

“The stab injuries to two co usins accompanying Jun aid and his lynching was motivated by deep- rooted communal hatred against the community of the victims,” the father had alleged in his plea.

He had also submitted that the conduct of the named accused and others as a lynching mob was concealed and projected as if the occurrence / events were sudden.

“The police deliberately acted with undue haste because the crime had attracted huge nationwide outcry,” he had added.

Junaid was stabbed to death when he, along with his brothers, was returning home to Khandawli village after shopping for Eid in Delhi.

His body was dumped close to Asaoti village in Faridabad district.

Haryana has defended the investigation and stated the family did not lodge any protest on the investigation before the trial court .“Now, the ch allan has been filed and charges have been framed against the accused,” the government had submitted, arguing that the petition was not main ten able as investigation had been concluded.

The government had also claimed that the family demanded ₹2 cr ore for settlement of the case from the accused. However, this had invited a sharp reaction from the victims’ family, who countered allegations by saying that it was an attempt to defame them.
