The UK-based University of Southampton’s Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) has opened applications for the MSc in Environmental Pollution Control degree. The programme offers an in-depth exploration of scientific basics of pollution and the practical approaches to its control. The programme bestows excellent training opportunities for careers in research and management relating to air, water and waste pollution control.
CES is a collaborative enterprise operating across the University, with inputs from other science disciplines in Biological Sciences, Geography, and Ocean & Earth Science, as well as CES’s home, Engineering and the Environment.
Environmental scientists are at the sharp end of dealing with the challenges that endanger our very existence; managing our natural environment’s sustainably and seeking ways to balance it with economic and social concerns. The students under theMSc in Environmental Pollution Control degree will work closely with the industry and governments to address some of the key problems facing the world today; including mitigat- ing the effects of, and adapting to climate change, sustainable development, conservation of biodiversity & environmental protection, resource management, and pollution control.

The ability to accurately monitor emissions to the environment and mitigate their harmful impacts sits at the heart of this diverse Environmental Science masters degree, which focuses on developing the professional skills required for a rewarding career as an environmental pollution scientist.
