Govt to supply free sanitary napkins to all schools in state

CHANDIGARH: Ha ryan a chief minister Manohar La lon Thursday said the state government will support Miss World Manushi Chhillar’s project ‘Shakti’ to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene among girls and will supply free sanitary napkins to all schools in the state.

Addressing mediaperso­ns during the Internatio­nal Gita Jay anti Ma ho ts a vin Kuruksh et ra, K hat tar, who was flanked by Manushi, said that ₹18 crore will be spent on the supply of free sanitary napkins.

The CM said the state government will launch a programme to prevent ana em ia among children in the state for which Manushi will be its brand ambassador. The CM said it was a matter of pride and happiness that she after becoming Miss World, she chose the Gita Mahotsav event for her first visit to Haryana.

‘IA MA SIMPLE GIRL LIKE ALL GIRLS OF MY STATE’

The Miss World said that all daughters of Haryana should dream big and work hard to succeed. Interactin­g withthe media, Manushi, said, “All daughters of Haryana are equal and they should chase their dreams without any fear. I am a simple girl like all girls of my state, but I wanted to become Miss World and I achieved it.”

Manushi, a student of Khanpur Medial College, famous for girls’ education, said Haryana had given her a lot.

GITA-GANGA EXPRESS FLAGGEDOFF

K hat tar along with Union minister of state for railways, Rajen Gohain, flagged off new train namely Gita-Ganga Express between Hi saran dH arid war via Kurukshetr­a and Ambala.

He also inaugurate­d constructi­on work of thenew Roht ak- Meham-Hans ir ail way line and laid foundation stone of renovation work of Ku ru ks he tr a railway station. Khattar said passengers would be able to board the GitaGang a Express in Ku ru ks he tr a at 10:40am and would return the same day at 8:30pm. A train Gita Jayanti Express was started last year between Ha rid war and Ma thura. These two trains would connect Mathura and Kurukshetr­a with Haridwar.
