TWO HELD FOR THREAT LETTER TO FARIDKOT CHEMIST

FAR ID K OT: Police have arrested two persons for allegedly sending a threat letter in the name of a proKhalistan extremist group to a chemist hereandtryingto extort Rs five lakh from him.

The threat letter was issued in the name of K hali stan Liberation Force and it was delivered to medical store owner Kuldeep Kumar through an 11-yearold boy on November 20, the police said.

The letter demanded Rs five lakh and threatened the store owner of dire consequences if the money was not paid by the next day. The chemist was asked to deliver the money at the Dehna bridge near Sir hi nd feeder canal.

“The letter was issued in the name of an extremist organisation ,” said Far idkot senior superintendent of police (SSP) Nanak Singh. However, the chemist did not go to the bridge. He reported the matter to the police on Friday.

Two persons identified as Akashdeep Singh and Sikandar Singh, residents of Dog ar B as ti in Faridkot, have been arrested for allegedly sending the letter to the store owner. “The two have no links with the KL F. During interrogation, they told the investigators that they wanted to make “easy money” and hatched the plan with the help of their aides lodged in Modern Jail, Far idkot ,” said the SSP.

Sikander’s brother Jatinder and aide Billa are lodged in jail in NDPS cases, he added.
