Sushil, Sakshi to lead 60-member team

NEW DELHI: Double Olympic Games medallist Sushil Kumar and Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Mali kare heading a 60-member contingent that will compete in the Commonweal­th Wrestling Championsh­ip, which gets underway at Johannesbu­rg from Saturday. Wrestling Federation of India has fielded two wrestlers each in the 10 weight categories in freestyle event in both men’s and women’s group. India has also entered a 20-member team in Greco-Roman.

CHIKKA FIGHTING TO SAVE HIS CARD

JAKARTA: S Chikkarang­appa finally found some rhythm as he added a 5-under 67 to his firstround 4-under 68 to sit nicely at tied-6th place in the Indonesian Master son Friday. Chikka is now six shots behind England’ s Justin Rose who continued to stay ahead of the chasing pack. Chikka, lying 67th on the Money list, needs to get into top-61 to save his Asian Tour card.

DOUBLE FOR SANJIVANI IN INTER-VARSITY MEET

NEWDELHI: Distance runner San- jivani Jadhav of Maharashtr­a scored a grand double in the All India Inter-varsity track and field meet at Guntur. On Friday, she clocked 33 minutes 14.16 seconds in women’s 10,000m, to improve her meet record of33:33.97 secs to secure her second gold in the competitio­n. Earlier, she had won gold in the 5,000 mr ace with a meet record.

NAVY TRIUMPH

NEWDELHI: Navy beat Armoured Corps (Black) 8-4 while Armoured Corps (Red) defeated RVC 7-4 in the last round league matches of the Armoured Corps Polo Trophy (4 goal) tournament at the Army Equestrian Centre, here on Friday.
