Mehbooba’s brother quits as CM grievance cell head, likely to be next tourism minister
JAMMU: An outstanding cinematographer, who did commendable work in Bollywood flicks ‘Omkara’ and ‘Kaminey’, Tasaduq Hussain Mufti, the brother of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, on Friday resigned from the post of coordinator on Jam mu and Kashmir chief minister’s grievance cell.
Tasaduq’s resignation comes two days after the government initiated the process to nominate him for Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council. He is tipped to be the next tourism minister of the present PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir, a portfolio presently held by the chief minister M eh boob a herself.
Tasaduq submitted his resig- nation to the chief secretary, BB Vyas at civil secretariat here in the winter capital.
He was appointed the coordinator of the cell in May this year. Tasaduq said he has resigned from the post with immediate effect.

Tasaduq’s baptism into politics was believed to have been prompted by family persuasion to help his sister with party affairs.
“Since he has re signed now, he will be inducted soon as member of legislative council (MLC) to pave the way for his becoming the next tourism minister,” said sources in the PDP.
PDP has one MLC seat vacant in its quota in the upper house after Vikram ad it ya Singh, son of Congress leader DrKa ran Singh and grandson of last Dogra ruler Hari Singh, resigned from the post and the party in October. He resigned after the PDP-BJP government refused to declare a state holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh and for “disregarding aspirations and sentiments of Jammu region”.
Tasaduq is an American Film Institute graduate. He stayed away from politics to pursue his passion but following Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s death on January 7 last year, he was persuaded by the family to support to his sister Mehbooba Mufti and the party.
