CAR ROBBED AT GUNPOINT IN AMRITSAR

AMRITSAR: Two unidentifi­ed bikeborne men allegedly rob bed a car from a woman after pointing a gun at her 7-year-old girl child on the Majitha road in Amritsar on Thursday night.

In his complaint to the police, the husband of the woman, Honey Sharma, said, “It was my mother’s birthday on Thursday, for which I went to purchase a cake. The armed robbers pointed a gun at my daughter’s head and asked my wife to abandon the car immediatel­y.”

Fearing for their life, his wife anddaughte­r got off from thecar and the robbers fled with the vehicle, he said.

“When I came back from the bakery shop, my wife told me about the incident,” he said.

SHO of Majitha road police post, Avtar Singh, said “Despite wireless alerts and checking at nakas in Amritsar, the robbers managed to flee. We are examining CCTV footage to identify the robbers.” A case under Section 379 B( snatching and use of force) of the Indian Pen al Code has been registered against unidentifi­ed persons.

November 18: A Hyundai Verna car was robbed at gunpoint from Patwinder Singh, a city resident, by some unidentifi­ed men.

August30: Fouruniden­tified armed persons stole a caron gunpoint from a farmer and a transporte­r, identified as Jagdeep Singh of Chawinda Devi village. The incident occurred at the toll plaza on the Amritsar-Batala bypass road.

May 14: Some unidentifi­ed men robbed a car at gunpoint from Anshul Sood, a resident of Moon Avenue, Majitha Road, when he was going to an HDFC branch at Khalchian for some official work.
