SHIMLA: Amid the ongoing suspense over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP’s) choice for the Himchal Pradesh’s chief minister, party’s state president Satpal Singh Satti on Saturday said that the new government will not nurture the culture of reappointing the tired and retired employees.

Satti, who also lost from Una, said that BJP has won 44 seats and new government will ensure all-round development of Himachal.

He, however, accepted that the defeat of some leaders, including him and the BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Prem Kumar Dhumal, has spoiled the party’s celebrations.

“Defeat gave a bitter taste but the party has registered an impressive victory,” Satti said while addressing the media here.

Satti said, “Not sabotaging but some other factors indeed affected the poll results. Every constituency has dif- ferent political setup.”

He said, “With BJP securing a record 48% of votes, the difference between the winning and losing party was as high as 7% while the difference in vote share had always remained around 4%.”

He claimed that all sections of society supported the BJP and defeated the anti-people and corrupt policies of Congress government.

“Of total 17 seats reserved for the Scheduled caste, BJP has won 13 seats,” he said.

The state chief also slammed the Congress party for its false propaganda against the goods and services tax (GST).

“Congress misled the voters in the name of GST but in urban areas, its efforts were quashed. Trader community of the state has supported BJP,” Satti said.
