Addressing a press conference on Sunday, additional deputy commissioner of police (crime) (ADCP-C) Harjit Singh Dhaliwal said inspector Joga Singh of CIA staff Amritsar was patrolling at Ranjit Avenue with other police personnel when he received a tip-off that the accused ran such a gang there.
“The team was informed by an informer that the accused looted passengers in their threewheelers. Soon after getting information, the team arrested the accused and recovered 10 looted mobile phones from their possession.”
“A case under Sections 379 (punishment for theft) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the three at Civil Lines Police Station.
The accused will be produced in a local court for taking police remand. We are hopeful of more recoveries from them,” said the ADCP.
