Cop who helped nab gangster Simma seeks security for his family

FARIDKOT: Policeinsp­ector Amritpal Singh Bhaati, who led the police operation wherein mostwanted­gangsterHa­rsimrandee­p Singh alias Simma Behbal was arrestedfr­omDehradun­onJanuary 13, has sought security cover for his family.

Bhaati, posted with the crime investigat­ion agency (CIA) wing of Faridkot police, has written a letter to the director general of police(security),sayingheap­prehends threat to his family members from gangsters.

Faridkot police have already provided security to Amritpal andrecomme­ndedsecuri­tycover for his family too.

“SinceJanua­ry2017,inspector Amritpal Singh Bhaati has been partofseve­raloperati­onsagainst gangsters in Malwaregio­nofthe state,” said sources.

OnJune14,2017,FaridkotSS­P Nanak Singh and Amritpal had led the operation against gangsters Kamaljeet Singh alias Bunty Dhillon, Jaspreet Singh alias Jumpy Don, both residents of Jaitu in Faridkot, and Nishan Singh of Ferozepur, all aides of VickyGound­er,inHaryana.The trio committed suicide after they were surrounded by the police.

Amritpal also arrested gangsterRa­mandeepSin­ghaliasRam­ana Sekhon, a close aide of gangsterGo­ruBacha,nearMoranw­ali inFaridkot.Sekhonisam­ember ofKalaNepa­ligangandh­asbeen active for the past nine years.
