Prominent places to ski in India
1 GULMARG: ALTITUDE 2,650M (J & K)
It is one of the most visited ski slopes in the country and is known as the heartland of winter sports, including skiing. It has skiing slope of 2km. The Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering runs skiing and other adventure sports courses. Season: December to March 2 AULI: ALTITUDE 3,050M (UTTARAKHAND)
It is 16km from Joshimath and has a skiing slope of 3km. The slopes are managed by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN). GMVN has ‘snow beaters’ and ‘snow cannons’ to keep the slopes suitable for skiing at all times during the season. GMVN also conducts skiing courses.

SOLANG VALLEY: ALTITUDE 2,560M 3 (MANALI, HIMACHAL PRADESH)
It is 10km from Manali on way to Rohtang. The slopes, measuring 2.5km, have produced numerous international skiers. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports conducts skiing courses here.
Season: February to mid-April
NARKANDA: ALTITUDE 2,708M 4 (SHIMLA, HIMACHAL PRADESH)
It is 65km from Shimla on the Hindustan-Tibet road (NH-22). Narkanda is among the country’s oldest ski destinations. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports conducts skiing course here.
