Maharashtr­a, Delhi dominate gymnastics events

NEW DELHI: Maharashtr­a and Delhi stamped their presence in the Gymnastics Hall at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, each winning two of the six gold medal son offer in gymnastics at the Khelo India School Games but would willingly cede the limelight to Bavleen Kaur who claimed Jammu and Kashmir’ s first medal across 16 discipline­s.

PUNJAB DOMINATE JUDO

Punjab’s judokas dominated the boys section making a clean sweep of all three gold medals at stake in the 66 kg, 73 kg and 81 kg classes. However, the honours were shared evenly in the girls section, Haryana, Manipur and Gujarat picking up one each.

As the judo competitio­n came to an end, Haryana topped the medals tally in judo with a haul of three gold, one silver and two bronze medals, while Punjab were right behind in second place with three gold and two bronze medals

Mizoram underlined their class thrashing Delhi 5-0 in the second football semi-final to set up a high-voltage clash with Punjab in the final to be played on Thursday.
