Security beefed up as Jats observe Balidan Divas today
Admn has deployed 13 companies of paramilitary forces and eight of state police in Rohtak; prohibitory orders clamped in Jhajjar
ROHTAK/KARNAL/HISAR: Security in various districts of Haryana has been beefed up as thousands of Jats are likely to attend the Balidan Divas programmes to be organised by All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) to pay tribute to members of the community killed in violence during quota agitation in February 2016.
District administrations have made elaborate arrangements to deal with any untoward incident and heavy police deployment will be made to ensure the traffic movement.
However, 13 companies of paramilitary forces and eight companies of police have been deployed in Rohtak, the district which had witnessed maximum damage during the 2016 stir. The Rohtak police have not made any traffic diversions so far.
Meanwhile in Jhajjar, the administration has clamped Section 144 of the CrPC and alcohol shops have been asked to remain shut till Monday morning. Moreover, 30 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed at Jind.
‘PEACE WILL BE MAINTAINED’
Jat leaders have also assured that peace will be maintained as government has already accepted their demands.
A police spokesperson in Rohtak also said that inputs they have received indicated that unlike previous times, the Sunday event will be a small affair and will not cause any trouble for commuters. AIJASS chief Yashpal Malik has also maintained that it will be a small affair and they will not make any announcement of a new stir from the Sunday’s event.
AIJASS Kaithal vice-president Balwan Singh Kotra said, “Thousands of people from Kaithal region are likely to attend the event at Devban in Kaithal while similar programmes will also be organised in Ugrakheri village in Panipat and Ballah village in Karnal district.”
SHOW OF STRENGTH?
The day is also being considered as a show of strength as AIJASS national president Yashpal Malik has been facing criticism from leaders of the Jat organisations for allegedly misusing the donation money and holding repeated

‘WE HAVE ADEQUATE POLICE FORCE’
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (headquarters), Mohammad Jamal, said, “We have adequate police force in Hisar and no one will be allowed to breach law and order situation.” He added, “If required, the Hisar police will call extra force from the adjoining districts.”
The event in Hisar will take place at Mayyar village, 10km from the city, near the Ramayan toll-plaza.
The spot is only 100 metres away from the railway track, hence, the government railway police (GRP) and railway police force (RPF) will also keep eye on every situation.
Hisar deputy commissioner Nikhil Gajraj had already cancelled leaves of all officials and deployed four duty magistrates under additional deputy commissioner( A DC) AS Mann.
Meanwhile, AIJASS state spokesperson Rambhagat Malik said, “The state government had on February-11 meeting promised Jats of reservation by the March end. If the government fails to keep its promise, we will again hold meetings and announce agitation.”
