HP govt to fill 200 posts of docs via walk-in interviews

CABINET ALSO DECIDED TO AMEND POLICY OF TENDERING BOND MONEY FOR MBBS STUDENTS

SHIMLA : In a bid to cope up with shortage of doctors, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur headed the cabinet on Saturday and took several decisions including filling up of 200 posts of medical officers (MBBS) on specific contracts through walk-in interviews.

During the meeting, the cabinet also decided to amend a policy of tendering bond money for MBBS students pursuing higher degree.

By this amendment, the policy will give major relief especially to the MBBS doctors who are undergoing PG courses as they were facing hardships in obtaining bank guarantees for their courses. The cabinet also gave its nod to civil supplies corporatio­n to procure four pulses including Dal Channa, Urd Sabut, Moong Sabut and Malka from National Co-operative Consumer’s Federation of India Ltd (NCCF), which would help in saving Rs 2.63 crore per month.

It also approved to strengthen HP Forest Ecosystem Climate Proofing Project, being implemente­d in Chamba and Kangra districts with the assistance from the KFW Developmen­t Bank Germany by providing requisite staff. This project is covering 600 panchayats of the districts for minimising and mitigating the negative impacts of climate change by increasing biodiversi­ty and sustained income in rural areas through sustainabl­e management of forest resources.

During the meeting, the approval for deployment of two medical physicists and four radiothera­pist technician­s on outsource basis at the Government Medical College Tanda was also given. This was done in order to operationa­lise the sophistica­ted cancer treatment equipment available there.

The cabinet gave its consent to upgrade Civil Hospital Ani in Kullu district with 100 beds alongwith creating 26 new posts of different categories. Besides, the nod for filling up 20 posts of junior office assistant in Dr YS Parmar University of Horticultu­re and Forestry, Nauni in Solan district was also given.
