Three arrested for running fake job racket
NEWDELHI: Three persons, including two women, were arrested for allegedly running a fake job racket in east Delhi. Police officials said the syndicate has duped more than 50 unemployed people of around ₹5 lakh by promising non-existent jobs.
Nupur Prasad, deputy commissioner of police (Shahdara), said the arrested man, identified only by his first name Ankush, is the alleged mastermind. He had employed two women for allegedly accessing details of job aspirants on job search websites and lure them by offering them nonexistent jobs, said the DCP.
According to Prasad, the arrests were made on Friday following an investigation into complaints filed by job aspirants at Anand Vihar. All the complaints were against a company run from a rented office in east Delhi’s Surajmal Vihar in the name and style of “HR Bid Solution”.
“The complainants alleged that they had received calls and text messages, saying their biodatas were shortlisted for jobs and they should visit the company’s office for interviews and other formalities,” said Prasad.
The candidates were asked to fill different forms and were made to pay between ₹5,000 and ₹10,000 as processing fee, police said. “After taking money from over 30 such people, they switched off their phones and shut their Surajmal Vihar office,” said Prasad.
As investigators visited the office, they learnt that the racketeers had vacated the premises.
The racket was busted when the accused called one of the complainants, Sweta, the second time. Prasad said around 10 days after she was duped the first time, Sweta received a similar job offer call.
She alerted investigators and probe revealed a similar racket being run from Jagatpuri.
