17 dead bulls found in four drains in Amritsar, one held

ACCUSED SAYS BULLS WERE BEING BROUGHT FROM SARDULGARH AND WHEN THEY FOUND CATTLE DEAD DUE TO SUFFOCATIO­N IN AMRITSAR, THEY THREW THEM IN DRAINS

AMRITSAR : The rural police have arrested one of the four accused, who allegedly threw 17 dead bulls in different drains and canals of the city on Wednesday.

The arrested accused is Kuldeep Singh aka Sagar while the other three are Amandeep aka Rambo, Harpal Singh aka Bhala and Gurdial Singh aka Dala of Jandiala. The bulls were found dead in a canal of Malowal village, Chauhan drain of the Tarsikka area, Fatehpur drain, and near Fatak Devidaspur­a in Jandiala on Tuesday.

After getting informatio­n, Jandiala and Tarsikka police had booked unidentifi­ed people under sections 429 of the IPC and 3, 5, 8, of the Cow Protection Act for allegedly killing and throwing the dead bovines at different places. SSP Parampal Singh said a team under the supervisio­n of SP Harpal Singh was formed to find the cause of death of animals.

The SSP said, “Sub-inspector (SI) Bikramjit Singh of Tarsikka police station on Wednesday conducted a raid and held Kuldeep Singh and recovered a Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire car and a truck, which was used to throw the dead bulls from his possession.”

He said the accused confessed and said he, along with his aide, was coming from Sardulgarh after purchasing bulls, which were in a truck and a Swift car.

Accused said, “When we reached Amritsar, we found bovines dead due to suffocatio­n and threw them.”Raids are being conducted to arrest others, SSP said.
