KURUKSHETRA: Calling for the youth to ‘dethrone’ the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in assembly elections due in 2019, Haryana Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Kiran Choudhary, on Monday, said that the present dispensation had failed on all fronts.
Leading a roadshow of the Congress from Pipli in Kurukshetra to Yamunanagar, she added, “Agriculture is in a crisis, unemployment is rising, there is illegal mining and women are not safe under BJP rule. All party workers must work on the ground to ensure that the Congress wins the next elections.” She added that Congress president Rahul Gandhi has called for the youth to ensure the BJP is thrown out of power. “You have to fight,” she told party workers.
“Agar bhagwan ne chaha or mere haath me aa gyi kalam to woh kam karke dikhaoungi aap hamesha yaad rakhoge, (God willing, if I am given the reins of the state (made the CM), I will work to ensure that Haryana progresses and will do extraordinary work,” she said, in Pipli.
She added that she had tried to raise issues related to the BJP government’s functioning in assembly, but were not allowed to do so. Refusing to answer questions on whether there were differences between leaders of the Haryana Congress (all senior leaders are holding parallel rallies and road shows in the state), she said, “All Congress leaders are working against the BJP and re working to ensure party’s win.”
On the CBI investigation against former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, she had this to say, “I don’t want to comment on a matter pending with a court.” During the roadshow, Chaudhary also reached out to farmers in Radaur, who were protesting against an FIR, slamming the government for taking an anti-farmer decision.
