CM’s home segment Karnal to be covered
KARNAL IS AMONG THREE CITIES OF HARYANA SELECTED FOR SURVEY; OTHER TWO ARE FARIDABAD AND GURUGRAM
KARNAL: After getting included in the Centre’s Smart City Mission, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s home constituency of Karnal has been selected for ‘livability index survey’ of the central government.
While giving this information, Karnal municipal corporation Commissioner Priyanka Soni said the livability index is the first-ever such survey being conducted in India on the initiative of the housing and urban affairs ministry to assess livability standards of 117 cities. The survey would conclude on April 14. The results of the survey would be announced in May. Soni said that a Mumbai-based agency, IPSOS Research Private Limited, is conducting the survey.
The livability index will take into account physical infrastructure like housing, open spaces, land use, energy and water availability, solid waste management and pollution, among other things. The motive of the survey is to systematically improve the quality of life of people.
Karnal is among the three cities of Haryana which have been selected for the survey. The other two are Faridabad and Gurugram. Though Faridabad and Karnal have already been adopted as smart cities, Gurugram will be made a smart city with state funding.
