Given the amount of stress and pressure associated with the exam season, one night before an exam is definitely earmarked as one of the most crucial days. This is when not only the student, but also the parents, teachers, tutors, and even siblings are on edge. However, the following tips are essential to be kept in mind on this last day right before an exam:

It is vital to ensure adequate and proper sleep.

Contrary to the popular saying which advocates burning the midnight lamp, it is vital for a student to have a good night’s sleep a day before the exam in order to ensure that he or she remains alert on the day of the exam, and is able to perform to the best of his or her ability. In fact, a regular sleeping pattern is advocated not just one day before the exam but also throughout the year.

Do not overdo it.

Especially on the last day before the exam, there is no point in slogging it out, as the new information is only likely to confuse you, and even stress you out further. Instead, it is more advisable to spend the same amount of time revising material that you are already familiar with, in order to boost your confidence for those topics.

Studying does not have to be at the stake of stopping enjoyment!

An exam is not the end of the world, and therefore it is important for you to continue living a normal routine. In fact, outdoor activity should be encouraged in order to ensure a healthier lifestyle, as well as providing an avenue for a break from the study place so the mind as well as the body can be rejuvenated. However, it is important to strike a balance and ensure that the breaks are timed and structured.

Avoid making comparisons.

It is common for us to share notes with our friends or peers, checking on their progress, what topics have they covered, etc. However, it is important for you to focus on your own work, more so on this last day before the exam. Each one of us is an individual, and we need to remember our own individuality, and avoid making comparisons.

What to do on the D Day.

Just before entering the examination hall, it is important for you to minimize your waiting time, as this time is only going to add to your stress levels. This is not the time for you to do last minute reading, in fact it is a good idea to leave your books behind at home!

Don’t hesitate to talk to friends and family.

Having an exam on the next day does not mean you isolate or seclude yourself. If you are feeling stressed, it is important to be able to talk about one’s thoughts and feelings, in order to vent one’s emotions and share your own apprehensions or fears about the exam.
