CM: Swaminatha­n happy with implementa­tion of report in Hry

ROHTAK:Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday lashed out at opposition parties for misguiding the farmers on the issue of Swaminatha­n Commission report and said the present state government had implemente­d maximum recommenda­tions of the report in the interest of the farming community.

“So much so, even Swaminatha­n has expressed satisfacti­on over the efforts made by the state government to implement the recommenda­tions of his report,” the CM said, while addressing the 3rd consecutiv­e Agri Leadership Summit-2018 in Rohtak.

He said the former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda remained chairman of the working group of CMs on agricultur­e production but did nothing to implement the Swaminatha­n report. He said price of sugarcane in Haryana is the highest in the country.

He said in order to cover the risk factor involved in agricultur­e, the state government had taken several steps.

MOU SIGNED

Haryana horticultu­re department signed a memorandum of understand­ing (MOU) with Internatio­nal Potato Centre (CIP) in the area of Potato on the first day of three-day Agri Leadership Summit 2018, in Rohtak.

FARMERS BOYCOTT THE EVENT

A section of farmers upset over non-procuremen­t of mustard boycotted the Agri Summit in Rohtak on Saturday. The farmers said due to non-procuremen­t, they have been forced to sell their produce to private buyers below minimum support price (MSP).
