CM: Swaminathan happy with implementation of report in Hry
ROHTAK:Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday lashed out at opposition parties for misguiding the farmers on the issue of Swaminathan Commission report and said the present state government had implemented maximum recommendations of the report in the interest of the farming community.
“So much so, even Swaminathan has expressed satisfaction over the efforts made by the state government to implement the recommendations of his report,” the CM said, while addressing the 3rd consecutive Agri Leadership Summit-2018 in Rohtak.
He said the former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda remained chairman of the working group of CMs on agriculture production but did nothing to implement the Swaminathan report. He said price of sugarcane in Haryana is the highest in the country.
He said in order to cover the risk factor involved in agriculture, the state government had taken several steps.
MOU SIGNED
Haryana horticulture department signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with International Potato Centre (CIP) in the area of Potato on the first day of three-day Agri Leadership Summit 2018, in Rohtak.
FARMERS BOYCOTT THE EVENT
A section of farmers upset over non-procurement of mustard boycotted the Agri Summit in Rohtak on Saturday. The farmers said due to non-procurement, they have been forced to sell their produce to private buyers below minimum support price (MSP).
