Radicals to raise Maur blasts, desecration at Baisakhi conference

BATHINDA: Radical Sikh political parties and organisations will raise issues of the shoddy progress in investigation into the Maur bomb blasts of January 31, 2017, the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari and killing of two persons in police firing in Behbal Kalan, in their political conference on Baisakhi in Talwandi Sabo on April 13.
The blasts had occurred shortly after the rally of Congress leader Harmindar Singh Jassi in the town. Jassi’s daughter is married to son of rape convict, Dera head Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh.
SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann on Saturday said the Sarbat Khalsa-appointed acting jathedar (high priest) of the Akal Takht, Dhian Singh Mand, will preside over the conference.
“Sarbat Khalsa-appointed jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib, Baljit Singh Daduwal, will oversee arrangements for the event. The political parties and organisations who had organised Sarbta Khalsa in November 2015 will collectively hold the conference,” he added.
“Punjab Police have failed to arrest the accused in Maur blasts as they are followers of Dera Sacha Sauda. The role of Jassi also needs to be probed. We will raise the issue of Bargari desecration and the plight of farmers too,” he added.
