AMBALA : Ambala additional district and sessions judge (ADJ) Yashvinder Pal Singh on Monday awarded 20 years of rigorous imprisonment to two men for raping a minor girl on September 20, 2016.

On the complaint of victim’s father, accused Praveen Kumar and Kuldeep Singh, residents of Baghour village of Ambala, were booked under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping a woman to cause her defilement) and 376 D (gangrape) of IPC at Ambala City woman police station.

The judge awarded 20-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000 to the accused under Section 376-D, five-year jail under Section 366 and three years’ term under Section 363, which will run concurrently.

Complainant’s counsel RKS Chandel said the two accused came on a motorcycle driven by Kuldeep, forcibly abducted the 15-year-old victim from her residence, where she was sleeping. He said the victim belongs to a very poor family. Her father is disabled while her mother is hard of hearing.

To prevent the victim from raising alarm, the accused tied her mouth with a cloth. They took her to ITI Raipur Rani and raped her at a room there.

The prosecution said the accused left the victim unconscious on Mirpur road after three hours of the crime. The girl was later found by the village residents who were searching for her all around.

Both the accused were arrested two days after the incident. The victim was medically examined at the local civil hospital where rape was confirmed.

Accused Parveen, who was granted bail six months ago, was again taken into the custody after the sentence. Kuldeep has been in judicial custody ever since his arrest on September 22, 2016.
