11-year-old girl lured with toffee, raped by neighbour in Rewari

THE VICTIM, A CLASS 6 STUDENT, WAS PLAYING OUTSIDE HER HOUSE WHEN THE ACCUSED APPROACHED HER

ROHTAK : An 11-year-old girl was raped by a 28-year-old neighbour at a village in Kosli block of Rewari district, police said on Thursday. The incident took place on Wednesday evening when the victim, a Class 6 student, was playing outside her house after returning from school.

The police said the accused, identified as Vijay Kumar, lured the girl with a toffee and took her to his house where he raped her. He also threatened her of dire consequenc­es if she told anyone.

When the victim went back home, she narrated the incident to her parents who called the police. Investigat­ing officer Amlesh Devi said they arrested the accused and produced him in court on Thursday.

She said the medical examinatio­n of the victim was conducted on Thursday after which her statement was recorded in front of a magistrate.

The accused has been booked under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 6 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

SECOND CASE IN 3 DAYS

This was the second incident of rape with minor in Rewari within past three days.

On Monday, a 12-year-old girl, who had come to spend her summer holidays in Rewari, was raped by her uncle in Jattusana village. The Haryana government had recently passed the bill to award death penalty to those convicted of raping minors below 12 years in Haryana.
