Rohtak blood feud: 7 members of Chippi gang held for murder

ROHTAK:The police have arrested seven members of Chippi gang in connection with the murder of Karor village resident Anand Malik, who was shot dead on April 27. Chippi gang’s head and main conspirato­r of the murder, Anil Chippi, who is serving life sentence at Sunariya jail, has also been taken on production warrant, police said on Monday.

The police said that it was discovered that those arrested were involved in 16 cases, including murder, attempt to murder and robbery. The police also claimed to have averted six murders that were being planned by the arrested men.

The police said families of deceased Anand Malik and accused Anil Chippi have been involved in a ‘gang war’ from a long time over dominance. HT had recently reported that since 2002, as many as 19 people have been murdered in the blood feud between these two families.

Continuing the feud, the Chippi gang had recently murdered Anand when he was going to his fields in Karor village. A case was registered against 20 people, of which, seven have been nabbed by police.

The arrested accused have been identified as Vikas alias Bhadu (19); Vikas alias Bagga (20); Mohit (21) all from Karor village, Deepak (25); Sachin alias Shooter (19); Mohit alias Pehalwan (19) and Pradeep alias Poppy (19) — all from Sonepat district. All of them had several criminal cases registered against them.

Rohtak SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said they took Anil Chippi on production warrant and interrogat­ed him about his accomplice­s who committed the murder.

Based on the input, the seven members of his gang were arrested from a room in Suncity where they had gathered to plan their next criminal activity.

The police also recovered six country made pistols of .315 bore, two country made pistols with magazine, 11 live cartridges of .315 bore and five live cartridges of .32 mm from the accused men.

The police said Anand’s family, too, has been accused in 14 cases of murders.
