GANGSTER SHUBHAM’S CLOSE AIDE HELD IN AMRITSAR
AMRITSAR:The crime investigation agency (CIA) wing of the district police arrested a close aide of gangster Shubham Singh, who is wanted for a Hindu leader’s murder, from Sakattari Bagh near the Chatiwind gate here on Monday.
The accused was identified as Abhinesh Bhatti aka Bunny of Gopal Nagar, Majitha road in Amritsar.
According to the police, Abhinesh was wanted in a case of attempt to murder of a Verkabased businessman, Jagjit Singh aka Raju, who was kidnapped and injured by the accused after getting ‘contract money’ from one Balwinder Singh of Verka. The police said the accused is a contract killer.
The accused was also wanted in a murder case of a servant, Raju, who was shot dead by Shubham and Abhinesh in July 2016, the police said.
Addressing a press conference, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) (Investigation) Harjit Singh Dhaliwal said CIA in-charge inspector Joga Singh along with other policemen was patrolling near Chatiwind Gate, when the team got a tip-off about the accused.
“The secret informer told the police that the accused was present at Sakattari Bagh. The team rushed to the spot and arrested the accused,” he said.
“The police also recovered a sharp-edged weapon from his possession,” said the ADCP.
The ADCP said the accused was booked under Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 120 B (punishment of criminal conspiracy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) of the IPC and Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act.
