Ggm school murder: Addl chargesheet in case by July 4
GURUGRAM: Additional sessions judge JS Kundu on Monday gave the investigating agency a month and a half to submit the final supplementary chargesheet in the matter of a murder in a private school in Gurugram.
The commencement of the trial has been set for July 4 and the investigating agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), is to submit the supplementary chargesheet regarding the role of the school management and the Haryana police.
The court also directed the CBI to hand over the CCTV footage of the school premises to the defence counsel on next hearing.
The court reserved its order, on the appeals filed for the juvenile to be tried as an adult, for May 21 after the final arguments of the prosecution, complainant and defence counsels were completed before the lunch hour.
CBI prosecutor Amit Jindal, complainant’s counsel Sushil Tekriwal and defence counsel Dhruv Gupta argued at the Gurugram special children’s court for almost three hours, from 10am to 1pm.
“The three appeals challenging the respective judgments of the Juvenile Board — that the juvenile be tried as an adult, he should be asked to give fingerprints and could be sent to custody — were conclusively heard by the Child Sessions court.
The judgment given by the board is reasoned, judicious and sustainable in the eyes of law. I wish to uphold the judgment so that absolute justice is effected and juvenile shall not get a lenient let off after such a heinous offence,” Tekriwal said.
CBI prosecutor Amit Jindal said that if the juvenile could murder a child for postponing a parent-teacher meeting, what would he do in a serious situation.
Jindal contended that the Juvenile Justice Board’s order on preliminary assessment report stands valid and that the report is not a part of the trial but a stage prior to the trial.
