ROHTAK : Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday slammed chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar over his foreign tours and demanded the details of investment it brought to Haryana.

Hooda, while addressing a press conference at his residence here, questioned the timing of Khattar’s Israel tour amid storm warning for Haryana.

“This government has made it a habit of abandoning the state when it is in trouble. We have seen it before when it did nothing and let Haryana burn,” said Hooda.

He said signing mere memorandums did not guarantee investments and asked government to show a real picture. “Where is the investment that should come to Haryana? Why is the government not divulging any details?” Hooda asked.

The former CM further criticised the government over the steep fall in the tomato prices. “Farmers are forced to sell tomatoes at 40 paisa per kg. Is this how this government plans to double their income by 2022?” he questioned.

Taking a dig at BJP’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Hooda asked where have those leaders now gone when the sanitation workers are on strike and state roads are covered with garbage. “Vo jo inke neta har jagah jhaadu ke sath photo khichwa rahe the, ab kahan hai? (Where are those leaders now who were earlier getting picture clicked with brooms?” he asked.

On being asked about Congress’ ‘humiliating’ performance in the Karnataka assembly elections, Hooda said the public had the right to decide whichever party it preferred.
