INLD for boosting Third Front under Mayawati’s leadership, says Abhay
KARNAL: Around a month after the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) formed alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the state, INLD leader Abhay Chautala said the party was working to strengthen the Third Front, under the leadership of BSP supremo Mayawati.
“With the BJP and Congress having failed to fulfil the expectations of people, now the Third Front is emerging. It will give the people a credible alternative to keep the Congress and BJP away from power,” Chautala said while addressing a joint meeting of INLD and BSP workers in Kurukshetra on Friday.
He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP of betraying the mandate that the country had them in 2014, by not fulfilling any of the four major promises — jobs to unemployed youth, implementation of the Swaminathan Commission, one rank one pension (as per demands of ex-servicemen) and bringing back the black money.
He promised to increase the old age pension to Rs 2,500 per month if the INLD-BSP alliance is voted to power in the next assembly elections in state.
BSP state president Prakash Bharati accused PM Modi and BJP of providing benefits to industrialists at the cost of farmers, labourers and the downtrodden.
Led by Chautala, hundreds of workers of INLD and BSP courted arrest over the issue of SYL and Dadupur-Nalvi canal. They were later released.
