Body found in Amritsar, murder case registered

AMRITSAR : The Jandiala police have booked some unidentifi­ed persons for allegedly killing a youth and throwing his body in a field at Talwandi Dogran village of the district, about 15 km from here, on Thursday.

The police said the preliminar­y investigat­ion revealed that the youth, who appeared to be in his 20s and whose identity is yet to be ascertaine­d, was killed with sharp-edged weapons as it bore stab marks. The body was also mauled by some stray dogs or other animals.

Simranjit Singh of Talwandi Dogran village said that he had gone to see his land taken on contract near the railway line around 5am and added that on reaching the place, he saw a broken cable wire at the tubewell in his land.

He said, “As I went towards the tubewell, I saw blood on the ground. I then brought the owner of the land, Kuldip Singh, to the spot.” He said when they reached near the tubewell, they found a naked body of a youth, who appeared to be in his 20s. The body was also mauled by some animals.

Simranjit Singh said, “It seemed that the youth was brutally murdered with sharp-edged weapons before throwing his body in the field. The body had stab wounds. The body was also mauled by some stray dogs.”

Station house officer (SHO), Jandiala police station, Harsandeep Singh, said, “Immediatel­y after receiving the informatio­n, I reached the spot with a police team and started investigat­ions.”

He said preliminar­y investigat­ion revealed that the youth was killed by some unidentifi­ed persons with sharp-edged weapons. “His body was also mauled badly, but it is not confirmed whether it was eaten by stray dogs or some other animals,” added the SHO.

Singh said the body has been kept in the civil hospital’s mortuary house for identifica­tion. “After 24 hours, the post-mortem will be conducted and further action will be initiated after the autopsy report,” he said.

Meanwhile, a case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) had been registered against unidentifi­ed persons.
