GURUGRAM: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour on Monday afternoon. The accused was arrested on Monday after the parents filed a complaint. The police said the neighbour lured the girl to his room on the pretext of offering her juice and snacks. The girl lives with her parents at a rented accommodation in Fazilpur village.

The girl’s parents lodged a complaint in this regard against the accused on Monday evening, after which a case was registered under Section 6 of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and Section 506 of the IPC at Badshahpur police station.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the afternoon, when the parents of the girl were at work. The accused was arrested from his home. The girl, a class 4 student, was seriously injured and is undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital, the police said.

In her complaint to the police, the mother of the victim said she works as a caretaker in a play school, whereas her husband works as a pantry helper with a private firm. Around 7pm on Monday, she said she got a call from her husband informing her that their daughter was in pain.

“When I reached home and checked with my daughter, I found that she was bleeding from her private parts and was in pain. She told me that our neighbour, who she calls uncle, had taken her to his room, removed her clothes and raped her,” the mother told the police.
