CBSE given list of 70 students who ‘received leaked question papers’

NEW DELHI: The special investigation team (SIT) of Delhi Police’s crime branch, which is probing the CBSE class 10 and 12 board question papers leak cases, submitted its investigation report to the board, mentioning the names of 60-70 students who were questioned during the probe.

These students had allegedly received the leaked question papers of economics and mathematics through WhatsApp, the SIT told the board.

An investigating official, however, confirmed they have not recommended that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) take any action against the students. Police said the investigation report was sent last week, after the board sought it from the crime branch around 10 days ago.

A senior CBSE official said they received 70 names from the Delhi Police.

“We have received 70 names of students who have received or sent the question papers. But it is not proven that they used it as unfair means in the exam. The board is not taking any action against these students as it is not proven that these students misused the leaked paper. The result of these students has been announced along with everyone else,” a CBSE official said.

Apart from the names, the report also contains details pertaining to the questioning of over 150 people, including students, teachers and parents, and places where the raids were carried out after the registration of the two cases in March. In the report, the police also mentioned that the principal of a school in Bawana, whose teachers were arrested for allegedly leaking the papers a few hours before the exam, was not co-operating in the probe.
