RULING PARTY IN POLL MODE, ARUN SINGH TO MEET CM, MINISTERS, MLAS AND PARTY OFFICEBEARES
CHANDIGARH: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Arun Singh will hold a meeting with the Haryana chief minister, ministers, MLAs and party office-bearers here on Thursday to discuss various activities to be undertaken ahead of the Lok Sabha and assembly polls.
On the top of Singh’s agenda would be the party’s forthcoming ‘sampark abhiyan’ (contact programme) to hold interactions with intellectuals and wellknown people in Haryana. As part of this drive, party national president Amit Shah had met former Army chief Dalbir Singh Suhag and Constitution expert Subhash Kashyap in Gurugram on Tuesday. Singh, an active worker of RSS, hails from Uttar Pradesh and was member of Narendra Modi’s poll campaign team in 2014.
The ruling BJP has prepared a strategy to hold interactions with intellectuals and eminent people about the schemes, initiatives and successes of the Central and state governments and take their feedback.
Around 4,000 party representatives, including the chief minister, ministers, MLAs and heads of various party wings and government bodies would undertake the said exercise in the days to come in Haryana, said Rajiv Jain, media advisor to the CM. Each one of them would hold 25 such meetings this June, he added.
Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had recently held road shows in several cities of the state and would soon start holding rallies in villages having a population of over 10,000 from June onwards.
The entire process is being seen as a preparatory ground work of the BJP gearing up for the 2019 elections. While the Lok Sabha elections are due in May 2019, the state assembly polls are due in October 2019.
