Worker killed in illegal cracker unit blast
JASBIR SINGH, WHO IS ABSCONDING, WAS RUNNING AN ILLEGAL CRACKER UNIT IN HIS HOUSE IN ANGARH LOCALITY
AMRITSAR: A 30-year-old man was killed and a woman seriously injured in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in the Angarh locality here on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Vicky of Angarh, who worked for making firecrackers in the house of Jasbir Singh while the injured is Jasbir’s niece, Veena, 20.
As per information, Jasbir had been running a factory of firecrackers in his house illegally. In-charge of Angarh police post, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Shiv Kumar said, “On Wednesday morning, Jasbir was not at home while Vicky was making firecrackers there. Jasbir’s niece was also there in the home. Around 11 am, a blast occurred in the house. During the explosion, Vicky was killed on the spot while Veena suffered serious burn injuries.”
The ASI said soon after getting information about the incident, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Sarabjit Singh, along with other police personnel, reached the spot and started investigation. He said a fire tender was called on the spot for extinguishing the fire, which had engulfed the house.
He said the body of Vicky had been sent for a postmortem to the civil hospital while Veena had been rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital.
He said a case under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Jasbir Singh, who is absconding.
