Admn shuts down 64 sewa kendras after verification
JALANDHAR : The administration has shut down as many as 64 sewa kendras in the district as they were facing the problems ranging from the delay in providing e-governance services, lack of infrastructure and poor maintenance.
These included 35 kendras that were found non-functional for a long time in a verification exercise going on since April.
After receiving several complaints from the public on poor delivery of services, nodal officer for district e-governance service Dr Jai Inder Singh, also the additional chief administrator, Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA), had launched a drive to verify the complaints.
“In the first phase, we shut down 64 centres and more be closed down. Gradually, the district will only be left with 34 centres the tender for which will be given to a new firm after July,” said Dr Jai Inder Singh.
IT HARDWARE TO BE SHIFTED TO PLRS
District e-governance co-coordinator Anand Mohan Singh said that the hardware installed at the facilitation centres that have been shut down will now be sent to Punjab Land Records Society (PLRS).
“We have asked the BLS firm to provide the list of all the IT hardware items. The PLRS is set to start a new project for which they will need new IT infrastructure,” said Singh.
