ROHTAK: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said he will approach the Central Water Commission to seek its intervention in keeping in India the river waters flowing into Pakistan from Punjab.

Addressing the media during his several programmes and a roadshow in Sonepat on Saturday, Khattar said, “I have received a letter from Punjab CM Captain Amarinder wherein he has said that he could not get any validation report on river waters flowing into Pakistan. In my opinion, this is wrong. Now, we will approach the Central Water Commission and seek their intervention in the matter.”

The CM said the Central Water Commission needed to build dams in India so the water going to Pakistan from the rivers could be put to domestic use. “We don’t mind if that saved water is given to Punjab, Haryana or Rajasthan, but at least it should stay in India,” he said.

Khattar further claimed that the road shows being organised by him are not propaganda for the upcoming elections “but an instrument to reach out to the people, to understand and resolve their problems, and build a direct link with the public.”

“Overall development has been done in all the 22 districts of the state, and out of the 4,900 announcements made by me, 3,350 have been fulfilled and work on the remaining is in process,” he said.

Khattar also announced schemes worth Rs 52.23 crore for the residents of Sonepat.

He laid the foundation stone of ITI in village Khewra to be constructed at a cost of Rs 14.24 crore. He wished the people on the occasion of Eid and said providing best services to the public always topped his agenda.

He visited the mini-secretariat and inaugurated an e-Disha centre set up at a cost of Rs. 4.75 crore.

He also inaugurated a 33-kv sub-station constructed at a cost of Rs 3.62 crore at Saafiabad village and a two-lane flyover constructed on Sonepat-PurkhasMoi road at a cost of Rs 44 crore.
