GURUGRAM: Eight days after two Gurugram businessmen were rescued from western Uttar Pradesh, the police detained two persons from a warehouse on Tauru-Bilaspur road on Saturday on suspicion of planning the abduction.

“We suspect that they were involved in planning the abduction and kept a tab on their movement on the day of the abduction,” inspector Vijay Anand, SHO, Tauru city police station, said.

Police said they accessed the call records of the two and found that they had allegedly made several calls to the main accused, Gaurav Soni, on June 4. “We are trying to connect the dots. Once we do that, the accused will be behind bars. He cannot be at large for much longer,” Anand said.

Siddhartha Jain (36) and Praveen Garg (42) were allegedly kidnapped by a ‘friend’, Soni, and his accomplices on June 4. The two were rescued four hours later by the police after a 50-kilometre high-speed chase.

The victims are at home and haven’t stepped out, except a visit to the police station, as the accused remains at large.

Garg underwent a jaw surgery and is on bed rest for a month. “He cannot resume working until he is able to talk, he cannot even eat anything as he has received more than 20 stitches to his jaw after he suffered a fracture,” Jitender Chhobker, a close friend of Garg, said.

“I will open my shop only after Soni and his aides are arrested. I am even scared to send my children out to play or my wife to the market,” said Jain.

Meanwhile, police have deployed police personnel dressed in civilian clothes for the protection of the victims and their families. The police are conducting raids at suspected locations of the accused.
