PANCHKULA : The Haryana Police on Tuesday filed a chargesheet in a Panchkula court against nine accused in the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) cash-for-job scam. The SIT filed the chargesheet against HSSC employees — Puneet Saini (hired on contractual basis in IT cell), Rohtash Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh (all assistants) and Subhash Sharma (superintendent) — and others including Balwan Singh, an employee of Huda (now Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran), Surender Singh of the irrigation department, Anil Kumar, Dharmender Singh, a resident of Panchkula, who runs a business of providing manpower, and one Subhash.

The Haryana chief minister’s flying squad had on April 5 arrested the accused under Sections 166, 167, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC and various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the IT Act. The investigation was later transferred to a special investigating team (SIT).

The accused had allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh for the post of clerk, ₹3 lakh for the post of conductor, ₹1 lakh for the post of sanitary inspector and ₹5 lakh for including an applicant’s name in the waiting list.

Besides this, the SIT had also recovered files containing documents of successful and unsuccessful candidates from the HSSC’s Panchkula premises. As many as 2,200 calls were intercepted by the SIT after complaints of corruption in the HSSC were received by the CM office since June last year.

Three persons, who had paid money to get job for their kin, had deposed before the court that how rampantly one of the accused sought bribe in lieu of government jobs through the HSSC.
