Man’s body arrives month after his death in Saudi Arabia
HOSHIARPUR: The mortal remains of a Bham village resident, Jagjit Singh, 30, who died last month in Saudi Arabia, arrived at his home on Wednesday with the intervention of chairperson of the Helping Hapless, Amanjot Ramoowalia, daughter of former Union minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia.
Jagjit Singh had gone to Saudi Arabia eight years ago. About four years ago, he met with an accident and was rendered incapacitated.
His family said he wanted to come back, but the Saudi government did not issue him an exit visa. The relatives said they approached Ramoowalia for help with whose efforts, a visa was finally granted to Jagjit on June 10. He was supposed to take a return flight on June 13, but he breathed his last on June 12. “Had the government acted on time, my son would have been alive,” rued Jagjit’s mother Raksha Devi.
His father Buta Singh said the employer company neither paid for his son’s treatment nor helped him return home. Jagjit was their only son, he added.
