CHANDIGARH: Leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Sukhpal Singh Khaira has convened a meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on Tuesday on state unit co-president Dr Balbir Singh’s allegations against him.

Khaira, who has alleged a conspiracy in the party to remove him from the post, said he would take up the matter before the MLAs he leads in the state assembly as leader of the legislature party. “Besides other issues, we will also discuss the deportation of two party MLAs from Canada,” adding that he was not aware of the reasons behind the deportation, he said.

In a video on Facebook two days ago, Khaira, who is MLA from Bholath, had alleged attempts within the party to poison the minds of AAP national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who is in-charge of party affairs in Punjab, to have him removed.

Khaira lambasted the state co-president for accusing him of taking cash from party workers. “Balbir should retract his allegation and tender an apology or get an impartial inquiry done into these allegations,” he insisted. However, Balbir said he never made any such statement and had high regard for Khaira

WHY NO ACTION AGAINST KHAIRA: SAD

The SAD has asked the AAP why no action was being taken against the leader of opposition, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, even after party colleagues accused him of appropriating money from party supporters .“Khaira has some hold over AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal that has been saving him,” said SAD MP Prem Singh Chandumajra. “This is shocking,” he claimed.
