MEERUT:In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old girl reportedly reached Hasanpur Kotwali of district Amroha on Saturday evening carrying her aborted foetus in a bag and demanded stern action against a boy of her neighbourhood who allegedly raped her and then forced her to abort the baby.

Police have registered a case of rape against the 22-year-old accused identified as Manoj who is still at large.

“We have registered a case on complaint of girl’s family and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused,” said Ajay Kumar, circle officer of Hasanpur. The foetus has been sent for forensic examination, he said.

The police said the survivor who reached the station with her mother, told them that the accused raped her at gunpoint five months ago and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone.

The girl kept quiet but her situation worsened when she found out she was pregnant. The accused then allegedly gave her medicine to abort the foetus on July 13. The girl’s family members came to know about the incident on Friday after her abortion.

In a similar incident, a 14-yearold rape survivor in Meerut had walked into the SSP’s office on May 19 carrying her aborted foetus in a bag. She accused two youngsters from her neighbourhood of outraging her modesty when she was alone in her home.

The accused in this case also allegedly gave her medicine to abort the foetus and tried to settle the case by offering money to the survivor’s family. But they refused to compromise.
