Bargari stir a Cong conspiracy: SAD

AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has upped ante against the indefinite dharna being staged by the Sarbat Khalsa designated parallel jathedars of the Sikh temporal seats at Bargari village in Faridkot. They termed it a ‘deep rooted conspiracy hatcheted by the Congress government in state’.

Akal Takht’s acting parallel jathedar of Dhian Singh Mand is leading the protest. “Arrest culprits of Bargari sacrilege incident” and “Free Sikh pensioners” are the main demands being raised at the protest. “This protest is conspiracy to divide Sikh community as well as disintegrate the country”, said Sukhbir Singh Badal, former Punjab deputy Chief Minister and president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Badal was here to pay his obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh Longowal.

Badal said, “Everyone wants justice but some people are playing with the sentiments of Sikhs on pretext of justice at the instance of Congress, which had launched attack on the Golden Temple in 1984.”

“Congress’ mindset has not changed in the past 35 years when the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, with an aim to hide her failures, had hatched a conspiracy that led to killings of innocent Sikhs,” said the Akali leaders. Former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee general secretary and district observer Manjinder Singh Sirsa, former MLA Veer Singh Lopoke and former minister Gulzar Singh Ranike were also present. “A few men, promoted by the Congress party, are sitting on a dharna and naming it a morcha,” they said.

“The Congress government has failed to deliver its poll promises and the motive is to hide its failures and divert attention of people,” said Majithia, adding, “Congress government is providing many facilities to these men apart from helping them politically and financially.”

Lashing out at US-based Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, who is running a ‘Sikh referendum’ drive, he said Sikhs living abroad have rejected the ISIsponsored agenda of Pannu. “Similar secessionist agenda was put forward by the so called Sarbat Khalsa organisers in 2015 by raising demand of Khalistan,” he added.
