Tarn Taran police bust robbers’ gang, three held

POLICE RECOVERED TWO PISTOLS, EIGHT LIVE ROUNDS, A SCOOTER AND A MOTORCYCLE FROM THEIR POSSESSION, TWO MEMBERS ON THE RUN

TARNTARAN: The crime investigat­ion agency (CIA) wing of Tarn Taran police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of three from Palasaur village, 10 kms from the district headquarte­rs, on Monday night.

The police recovered two pistols, eight live rounds, a scooter and a motorcycle from their possession.

The arrested have been identified as Harpal Singh alias Bhala of Roore Asal village, Amandeep Singh alias Monu of Sheikh village and Gurbir Singh alias Gora of Muradpura locality in Tarn Taran.

However of the total five, two gang members, identified as Sukhjit Singh alias Lucky and Ravinder Singh alias Robin of Bugha village, managed to escape.

Senior superinten­dent of police (SSP, Tarn Taran) Darshan Singh Mann, said, “Assistant sub inspector Sukhdev Singh of CIA wing along with other police personnel, was patrolling near Kazikot village’s bus stand when he got a tip-off about the accused.”

“The informer told the ASI that the accused with gang of robbers was planning to commit a dacoity near the Chabhal drain bridge in Palasaur village,” he added.

The SSP said, “Acting on a tip-off, the team conducted a raid and arrested three members while two of them managed to flee from the spot.”

“A case under Sections 399 (making preparatio­n to commit dacoity), 402 (assembling for purpose of committing dacoity) of the Indian penal code and 25-54-59 of the Arms Act has been registered against all the members. Raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining two accused,” said the SSP.
