One arrested for abducting, raping girl in J&K’s Reasi

JAMMU: A man has been arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a girl at Pharya village in Reasi, police said on Sunday.

The victim’s mother had on Friday lodged a complaint stating her daughter was kidnapped by two men when she was on way to her sister’s home in the same village. She said both the accused allegedly took her daughter to an unknown place and raped her on the intervening night of August 12 and August 13.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab the other accused. Reasi DSP (headquarter), Nikhil Gogna, said, “The other accused is still absconding and a hunt has been launched to nab him. We have put his mobile on tracker .”

2 WOMEN FOUND DEAD

Two women were found dead in Reasi district, police said on Sunday.

One of them was found hanging from a tree in a field behind her house in Kansar Bakal village last evening, a police official said. He said she had gone out for some work but when she failed to return home, her family started looking for her and found her dead.

Police have started inquest proceedings to ascertain the cause of her death. Preliminary investigation indicated that she may have committed suicide, the official said, adding that body of another woman was recovered in Malikot village on Sunday.

The woman had apparently fell from a hillock while cutting grass near her mud house, he said, adding that police have started probe.HTC & AGENCIES
