Dera castration case: Ram Rahim moves bail plea

SPECIAL CBI COURT IN PANCHKULA HAD FRAMED CHARGES AGAINST JAILED DERA CHIEF AND TWO ACCUSED DOCTORS IN THE CASE ON AUGUST 3

PANCHKULA : Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Tuesday moved a bail plea in the case relating to forcible castration of dera followers.

The special CBI court here had framed charges against jailed Ram Rahim and two accused doctors, MP Singh and Pankaj Garg, in the case on August 3.

The dera chief’s plea mentioned that charges have already been framed and the applicant had even joined the investigat­ion, therefore bail should be granted to him, which was opposed by the CBI.

Dr Pankaj Garg also moved an applicatio­n seeking permission to attend a conference in London in November. The court will decide on 5the two petitions on Thursday (August 23).

Meanwhile, former dera follower Hans Raj Chauhan, the complainan­t in the matter, recorded his statements on Tuesday.

After recording Chauhan’s statements, the hearing was deferred to September 4.

As per the CBI chargeshee­t, the complainan­t had submitted a list containing names of 166 dera followers who were allegedly castrated at the behest of Ram Rahim in 2000.

The CBI claimed that 128 of the alleged castrated followers were contacted and examined during the probe. Six of them became CBI’s main witnessed who deposed against the dera chief and revealed that they were castrated at his behest by Dr Singh and Dr Garg.

The dera head, who is serving a 20-year sentence in Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail for raping two women disciples, is facing legal proceeding­s in two murder cases also.
