TARN TARAN : In a broad daylight robbery, six armed men looted ₹3 lakh a State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Jandoke Sarhali village, 16 km from the district headquarters, on Friday. The incident took place about 11.15 am. Police claim the robbers used two cars in the crime and entered the bank after snatching the rifle of the guard, Dilbagh Singh.

This robbery comes after Thursday’s crime where unidentified men looted the Majitha branch of Canara bank of ₹38 lakh after throwing chilli powder in his eyes near Naagkalan village in Amritsar. Bank manager Naresh Goyal said, “The robbers barged in and put a gun on me and cashier Ashok Kumar. They asked us to handover the cash available. In fear, the cashier gave them ₹3.37 lakh.” He added that the miscreants also took away purses of bank customers and the staff.

SP investigation Tilak Raj along with other police personnel reached the spot and started investigation. SSP Darshan Singh Mann said the accused took away the recorder of the CCTVs installed inside and outside the bank. SP Tilak Raj is leading the team that is investigating the case.

The accused have been booked under sections 392 (robbery), 506 (criminal intimidation), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) and 379 B (theft) of the IPC and sections 25-27-54-59 of the Arms Act at Sadar Patti police station.
